Frequently Asked Questions

Why do we need this?

Managing any major conference requires hundreds of PC members, which makes a meaningful selection infeasible through mere community contacts. This system is a centralized alternative to each conference running different Google forms for reviewers to volunteer. For PC chairs, it offers insights into past experience for each interested volunteer, while volunteers do not have to fill the same information about their publications, service, etc. over and over again.

Who has access to the data?
  • If you set your profile to public: anyone; endorsements and email addresses are never made public.
  • Otherwise: PC chairs for the conference you’re signaling interest for and Ben Stock (as the developer and current operator of the system).
  • In the long run, the system is supposed to be run similar to HotCRP by a third party (potentially any of the organizations of the big conferences).
What data is collected?
  • Your name, Orcid, Scholar, DBLP links
  • Your email address (never public)
  • Previous commitment on PCs, including positive indicators from chairs (e.g., #ontime)
  • Endorsements (never public) from other community members if you request them
Will this be used for punitive action?

No. The system has no intersection with any community initiatives (e.g., PROTECT) nor does it store any negative information.
